Hymn to Colors

“During a walk in the garden, I pick flower upon flower to rub them in the hollow of my arm, one after the other, as I gather them. I come home with the idea of painting these flowers.” These were the words of Matisse, whose fauvist palette offered the curious eye a candid nature with uncompromising tones. Les Néréides takes up the work of the modern painter by appropriating the colours that characterise him thanks to a matt and vibrant enamelling. The anemones that adorn your ears, or the gerbera that bursts brilliantly around your neck are expressed in their simplest form, the quintessence of floral art in its greatest delicacy.
